The Car Seat Lady. Everything you need to know about car seats is here, with solid data to back it all up.
NEW: Disney Food Blog. Disney + Food (and drinks) = some of the things I live for. Love this site!
Evidence Based Birth. An unbiased source for the most current, evidence-based information on pregnancy and childbirth, created by a mom/PhD-prepared nurse/researcher. It covers a range of topics, like Advanced Maternal Age, Failure to Progress, External Cephalic Version, and more. Translates research studies into English!
Free-Range Kids. The blog by Lenore Skenazy, the mom who was publicly criticized for allowing her (mature, prepared, and ready) 10 year old son to ride the NYC Subway alone. The tagline says it all: “Fighting the belief that our children are in constant danger from creeps, kidnapping, germs, grades, flashers, frustration, failure, baby snatchers, bugs, bullies, men, sleepovers and/or the perils of a non-organic grape.”
KellyMom. An excellent resource on all things breastfeeding. I also love their Facebook page, where they share great information and the latest news.
Like Real Life. A beautiful, brilliant, no-B.S. parenting blog by Abi O’Borne, a super sharp writer and mom out of Kent, UK. So much wisdom there. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry.
Walt Disney World Prep School. If you’re headed to Disney World, it’s a must-read! Might as well come clean in a public forum: I’m a Disney freak!!!
Spark Joy: An Illustrated Masterclass on the Art of Organizing and Tidying Up, also by Marie Kondo. A highly recommended companion to Lifechanging Magic.
Babytec Autofade Bedside Lamp. With this ingenious lamp, you can get a visual on your baby for nighttime feeding and changes without causing the dreaded day/night confusion. Truly life changing. (Get them while they last — they are often in short supply!)
Silverettes. These silver nipple cups heal nipple pain/trauma, and literally saved my breastfeeding relationship. I swear by them, and wish every nursing mom had a pair! For $5 off when ordering from silveretteusa.com, use my personal promo code, PS5. And learn more in my Silverettes posts, starting here.
For my full list of breastfeeding-specific gear, check out my Breastfeeding page.
Beauty & Fashion:
Bun Maternity nursing clothes. Use coupon code BUNLOVE to take 25% off orders over $50.
Milk Nursingwear. Modest, comfy nursing tops and dresses that wash well. What’s not to love?
Undercover Mama nursing tanks. Make any top into a nursing top!
Logan + Lenora. Love their Diaper Clutch (with wet bag insert), which I use instead of a diaper bag, and Daytripper wet/dry bag. Use code PATRICIA10 for 10% off your order at loganandlenora.com. Also available, sometimes on sale, on Amazon.
Housekeeping & Home:
Squatty Potty. Life changing, trust me. And, you’re welcome.
Young Living Essential Oils. I absolutely love these oils, and use them for everything from making my own household cleaners, to deodorizing the diaper pail (Purification blend is magical), to diffusing to create a wonderful shift in the atmosphere and, uh, smell of my home. I get them through my midwife’s daughter, Catherine, who is incredibly knowledgeable. Learn more here.
Baby & Kid Stuff:
NEW: The Honest Company. I’m a huge fan of their diapers & wipes (especially the travel packs) — and so is my sensitive-skinned little guy! Other products I love: their leopard print baby carrier, cloth diaper safe laundry detergent, diaper rash cream, hand soap, bubble bath, hand sanitizer, and canvas bag (currently my purse). (Not a fan of the lavender deodorant (gave me a rash) or kids’ toothpaste.) I get bundles for both essentials & diapers, though I stay on top of them and push the ship dates out a lot, because every 6 weeks is way too soon for me. Also, their diaper cakes make a very cute and useful baby gift.
Diva Cup. Available online or at CVS. There are so many benefits to using a cup. You get to know exactly what your flow is up to; it’s environmentally friendly, no garbage to deal with; easy to use once you get the hang of it; as comfy as a tampon; it allows your flow to flow down and out rather than be stopped up, which is optimal for your health; holds a ton of period, so you can wear it all day most days; and best of all, no sketchy chemicals are being absorbed through your vaginal membranes, as with chemical-filled tampons. My PMS symptoms and cramps were dramatically reduced when I switched over. Try it!!!
Fax Zero (faxzero.com). A free online fax service that’s super easy to use. Just scan in your document, upload, and go! I’ve used it for years.
NEW: LovePop Cards. Absolutely stunning pop up cards. The latest addition: Abbey Road. SWOON!
MOMS Club® International. A worldwide, non-profit support group for stay-at-home parents. Go to momsclub.org to find a chapter in your area! You can also visit my chapter’s public page on Facebook — MOMS Club® of Hastings-on-Hudson, NY. And if you want to know about starting a chapter, I know all about that, too, and am happy to tell you everything.
Mail Chimp. Fabulous, free, and fun. I use this site to make my monthly MOMS Club newsletters. The results are professional and punchy.
Moo Business Cards. Super customizable, professional, creative-looking and affordable business cards, available in a bunch of cool sizes. I’m digging the square with rounded edges.
Pic Monkey. An awesome, easy design site that is my go-to for graphic design! It is super fun, and free. You can also purchase a premium account — I love mine.
Thinx Period Underwear. Believe the hype — these are awesome! I am a Diva Cup devotee, but use these as backup on heavy days, and as nighttime underwear without the cup for lighter days. They really work! Finally someone cares enough about women to apply modern technology to our stuff. Next up, can someone PLEASE design a better breast pump?!
Local Loves (NYC Metro Area):
Scribble Art Workshop. If you live in NYC, Bergen County, NJ, or Westchester County, and have little ones, you must check out this amazing art workshop! They do everything from art & sensory exploration classes for 18 months and up, to date night drop-off evenings (genius) and adult classes. They teach not only art, but art literacy & presentation — skills that will help your little one develop an appreciation for art, which is a gift. My 4 year old, who is not usually a class guy, *loves* the Prescribblers class. And it has encouraged him to get down & dirty with art supplies (read: paint from ears to ankles), which I’m happy about. They gotta live a little, ya know?
